Wen Na, a Beijing-born artist, earned her undergraduate degree in print from the Printmaking Department of the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University. She worked as an illustrator and editor for Beijing Youth Daily and created a large number of illustrations for novels and fairy tales as well as stage show posters. Her creation is dominated by mural paintings, and she imagines various new deities by borrowing ideas from the figures of Gods in Chinese paintings. She never copies the existing traditional symbols to create images in her works; instead, she mixes the function, history, and space of the place where the mural paintings are located with wild imaginations. Wen Na has been invited to produce works for cultural institutions across many countries, including the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon in France in 2016, the UGC Ciné Cité in France in 2016, the Alassio Culture and Art Center in Italy 2011, and the Sanbao International Ceramics Art Village in Jingdezhen, China from 2010 to 2016.
