An exhibition, twenty-five portraits of a woman, an artist, with all his creatures.
Figlie is the first solo exhibition, in Italy, by the Chinese artist Youjing Wu.
Youjing paints almost exclusively women, she is attracted and fascinated by the feminine features, the soul and everything that distinguishes her from women. All of them are united by one characteristic: that of being daughters before being women. Through the work of Youjing, women, again return to being daughters, but of the artist, she paints them, sees them born, grow up and become the women they are now, crystallized forever in her portraits. They carry with them their personality, their history, their emotionality but through the passage that Youjing implements, painting them, they absorb a part of the soul, the personality, the story of the artist herself.
Youjing paints mainly starting from a photographic image of these women, it is a process that allows her to take the time to study the subjects, feel the emotionality of the exact moment, in which the photograph was taken, Youjing has the ability to read the soul of her models and translate it with her own hand. An instant, immortalized by the clinical eye of a revised lens, reread, reinterpreted and rewritten, adding a part of himself, like a narrator with his own characters.
The artist is in all respects one of them, a woman, a daughter, a creature who lives and faces life and if you sto look her in the eye, just like all women painted, you can read her life.
The artist has created a lens, through which the viewer observes, has imprinted his own emotionality, also through the choice of the color range: dusty, cold, sour, perhaps hard, but with such delicate and loving features, caressing their faces with brushes, like a mother takes care of a daughter.
