刘辛夷关注那些在不经意间作用于政治参与的媒介物与其潜能。他的一部分创作挖掘广为传播的意识形态习语和符号,在日常情境中重置数字公域中的政治景观,以标记个体与当代世界之间不安的信息交换。伴随着工作现场的连续迁移,他的另一部分实践探询现代市政治理下的社会空间,模拟并转译那些间接塑造了自身文化心理的社会情境和技术实践。他将这些自发的查验工作看做一种长期方法,以捕捉在信息网络和物质现实的历史中不断交叠与断裂的现代性表征,并想象在日趋工具化的信息社会中,那些失效的,缺损的以及不可追溯之物可能的角色。

Liu Xinyi is interested in unfolding various kind of agencies that unintentionally played their roles in the history of political participation. Part of his works excavates the widely circulated ideological idioms and icons, recontextualizes the political spectacles from the digital public domain into daily life, aiming to trace the restless interchange between an individual and the Contemporary World. Accompanied by continuous migration of his worksite, another half of his practice start to study on modern municipal management over social spaces, where he imitates and translates some of the social situations and technical practices that may have involved in shaping his own cultural psychology. He regards these autonomous inspections as a long-term approach, to capture the overlayed and fractured representations of modernity among the history of information networks and physical realities, with the view to imagine the potentials of the invalid, incomplete and non-retrospective objects in the information societies rolling towards instrumentalization.
Liu Xinyi is an artist currently based between Hangzhou and Beijing, primarily working on site-specific project, installation, and moving & still image. He was one of the winners of Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the year” (2018-2019), his was also one of the shortlisted artists for the 4th Art SanyaHuayu Youth Award (2015).
