张培力 ZHANG Peili

张培力,1957年生于杭州,目前在杭州工作和生活。1984年毕业于中国美术学院油画系,现任职于中国美院新媒体艺术系,为中国美术学院教授,兼OCAT上海馆执行馆长。上世纪80年代,在尝试通过绘画、文字等艺术语言进行创作之后,张培力开始尝试非线性叙事的多屏录像装置作品,1988年创作的录像作品《30 × 30》,被广泛认为是中国第一件录像作品。他的录像作品关注于展现人与世界关系的悖论,以隔离而中性的立场,自由和深刻地考虑人与世界的关系,创造出了一个大容量的、综合性的、强有力的艺术体系。其作品被纽约现代艺术博物馆,蓬皮杜艺术中心等顶级艺术机构收藏。同时,他还潜心中国新媒体艺术教育,于2000年代早期首创新媒体艺术系,催生和推动了中国新媒体艺术的发展。

张培力曾在诸多美术馆和艺术机构举办个展,其中包括:“向上的”,S.M.A.K.当代艺术博物馆,根特,比利时(2018);“记录,重复”,芝加哥艺术博物馆,芝加哥,美国(2017);“张培力:从绘画到录像”,CIW画廊,澳大利亚国立大学,堪培拉,澳大利亚(2016);“因为…所以…”,博而励画廊,北京,中国(2014);“吃”,当代艺术博物馆(MoMA), 纽约,美国(1998)及在巴黎世界文化宫的个人项目,圆点画廊,巴黎 (1993);“张培力个展”,Crousel-Robelen 画廊,巴黎,法国(1993)等。

2018年,张培力作品参加了诸多公共和私人艺术机构的群展,其中包括:“动态艺术:100件媒体艺术杰作”,ZKM,卡斯鲁尔,德国(2018);“吉姆·坎贝尔 & 张培力:闪烁不定”,新时线媒体艺术中心,上海(2018);“这里是上海:中国当代艺术展 ”,邱纳德大楼,利物浦 ,英国(2018)等。

张培力的作品曾在国际双年展及三年展中展出,其中包括:釜山国际双年展,釜山,韩国(2018);威尼斯双年展(1993,1999 & 2003);上海双年展(2012 & 2004);广州三年展(2003);光州双年展(2002);悉尼双年展(1998);里昂双年展(1997)等。

Zhang Peili (b. 1957, Hangzhou), currently works and lives in Hangzhou. He is an artist and professor at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art) in 1984. The following year, he helped organise the exhibition ‘New Space’ in which his oil paintings, including Midsummer Swimmers, Please Enjoy Some Jazz and Interval, were shown. He also created 30 × 30, a video work now generally recognised as the first video art piece in the history of Chinese contemporary art. In the early 2000s, He founded the New Media Department at the China Academy of Art, the first of its kind in China’s art academy system. His work has been shown in numerous international exhibitions, like the Museum of Modern Art, New York Centre National des Arts Plastiques, France Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.

His works have been the subject of solo exhibitions including, “Uplifting” S.M.A.K., Ghent, Belgium (2018); “Record. Repeat”, at The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, USA  (2017);  “Zhang Peili: From Painting to Video, CIW Gallery, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia (2016); “Because…Therefore”, Boers-Li Gallery, Beijing, China (2014); “Eating”, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA (1998); “Zhang Peili”, Maison des Cultures du Monde, Galerie Rond Point, Paris (1993) and etc.

In 2018, His works have been presented in countless group exhibition at public and private institutions including, “Art in Motion: 100 Masterpieces with and through Media”, ZKM, Karlsruhe (2018); “The Flickering Uncertain: Jim Campell – Zhang Peili”, CAC, Shanghai (2018); “This is Shanghai: Chinese Contemporary Art”, Cunard Building, Liverpool, UK (2018), etc.

Zhang Peili’s works have been the subject of renowned international biennials and triennials including, Divided We Stand: 2018 Busan Biennale, Busan, Korea (2018); The Venice Biennale (1993, 1999 & 2003); The Shanghai Biennale (2012 & 2004); The Guangzhou Triennale (2003); The Gwangju Biennial (2002); The Sydney Biennial (1998); La Biennale de Lyon (1997) among many others.
